Vietnamese Night at the Museum is a celebration of Vietnamese arts and culture with music, food, drinks, and enriching activities. Co-sponsored with The Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art, the event begins in the Courtyard with a reception where Vietnamese food is provided by NUE restaurant, music played by Vietnamese American comedian and DJ Leon Nguyen and cultural enrichment programs such as:

  1. Engage – craft Vietnamese fans and color woodblock prints of the Tale of Kieu
  2. Educate – interact with eight digital educational panels placed around the courtyard about Vietnamese cuisine, literature, film, fine art, music and UNESCO designations
  3. Embody– enjoy watching a Royal Vietnamese Procession with models wearing 19th century royal robes and accessories

The evening continues with The Road to Infinity concert, a special live musical performance that blends Western electronic sounds with UNESCO-recognized traditional Vietnamese folk music such as Chèo, Xẩm, Quan Họ and Huế folk music. The concert features musicians from Vietnam, including one of Vietnam’s top music composer/producer Nguyễn Quốc Trung and the band Phương Đông.  The renowned musicians in Phương Đông are considered the best in traditional Vietnamese music. The Road to Infinity has been performed across Asia and Europe, and will be presented for the first time in the United States.
